Learn How to Teach a Dog to Lay Down
Teaching a dog to lay down on command is another essential skill in basic obedience training. This course provides detailed instructions on how to guide a dog into the laying down position and how to consistently reinforce this behavior. It starts with simple techniques that encourage the dog to lower its body to the ground.
The course includes a variety of methods to suit different dogs, whether they respond better to verbal commands, hand signals, or a combination of both. It also covers how to build duration and reliability, ensuring that the dog will lay down and stay even with distractions.
There are three fundamental things you'll learn with the Down course
1
Teach your dog to lay down and stay in the position for some time
2
Learn how to do a Down in different environments with different distractions
3
Master Down for longer period of time with a variety of techniques
How long does it take to teach your dog to lay down
We worked with animal behaviourists and trainers to create an easy-to-follow seven-step course. If you only spend ten minutes a day for one week, you'll see improvements.
What do you need to get started with Down training?
As the Down course if one of the fundamental courses, it is really easy to get started. All you need is a quiet room at home with a comfortable surface, a garden or a park nearby and a selection of tasty treats that your dog likes (yum!).
